DESIGN TEAM: José Sanchez Reyes, Henry B. Konover, Jose Molina
DESCRIPTION:
Located on a 1.3-acre city block in downtown Sarasota, the first phase of the project is situated on the westernmost third of the site. The mixed-use, ten-story building is comprised of sixty-five two and three bedroom units.
A podium on the lower three levels responds to the urban corridor of Main Street, as well as serving as a “liner” for the structured parking behind. The podium features a silver glass semi-reflective façade with extruded vertical mullions for increased privacy and shading for the office spaces. A low-iron, transparent storefront is recessed at the ground floor allowing for a public plaza for the prominent northwest corner of the property. The offset placement of the core maximizes the city and bay views of the units along the north, south, and façade which is screened with metal louvers to shade and filter the afternoon sun.
